These photographs of “CHIRINGAS” were taken by my friend and former student Osvaldo Delbrey using his Canon A-1 with Portra 400 film. They were taken on June 15, 2019 and document the kite-building workshop, the procession from Ballajá to the grounds of El Morro, the reading of the obituary, and the kite-flying performance. “CHIRINGAS” was a workshop and place-based event, a memorial for all the queer spaces that have closed in Old San Juan.
